Situated somewhat North of the Stockholm region, Roslagen is the name of the archipelago and coastal region of the county of Uppland. Historically its' economy was based on fishing, sea transportation, iron furnaces and agriculture.

These images were taken in the city of Oregrund. It was founded 1491 but was burned to the ground by the forces of the Danish King Kristian. It was later rebuilt under the rule of Gustavus Vasa.

The city was a major port and shipments of mainly iron from Upplands Iron Mills. During the later stages of the Great Northern War between Sweden and Russia, the city was again the victim of fires set by enemy forces.

From the late 1800's to WWII Oregrund was a popular health resort for the well bestowed. During this period many beautiful houses and gardens where created. It was also during this period that many properties were bought by summer residents. This tendency has not been haultered and for the colder half of the year the city is half empty.
